Benbecula is an Outer Hebrides island, off the West Coast of Scotland. The small, flat, low-lying island lies between North and South Uist, and is linked to these via a causeway.
The name Benbecula - from the Gaelic, Beinn na Faoghla - translates as ‘The Mountian of the Fords’. Said mountain is actually a 407ft hill, the tallest in Benbecula.
The only cash machine on both Benbecula and South Uist is located at Benbecula Airport. The island features picturesque beaches and great views. With a small population of around 1,300, the island is great for a quiet getaway or to immerse yourself in nature.
The island also boasts a variety of attractions including a horse riding school, golf and a trail of commissioned art sculptures, accompanied with spectacular views.
