London is probably the most famous British city in the world. This metropolitan, busy, vibrant city is the capital and largest city in England and the United Kingdom. Its history stretches back to Roman times, London (originally the Latin Londinium) and its bordering boroughs have a population of just under 8.4 million, meaning a fast-paced, busy city-break with incredible views and a rich history and culture.
At its centre stand the grand Houses of Parliament, the iconic Big Ben and Westminster Abbey, site of British monarch coronations. Across the River Thames, the London Eye gives breath-taking views of the city, as does the Shard's viewpoint. There's so much to do in London, it's hard to know where to start. A historic and thriving theatre scene, the West End, which plays host to worldwide acclaimed shows, currently including The Lion King, Kinky Boots, School of Rock and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - the eighth instalment in the highly popular Harry Potter series, which made its debut last year.
Speaking of Harry Potter, you can also visit the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London: The Making of Harry Potter at the former Leavesden Studios, where the blockbuster film series was filmed - you can see props, costumes, settings and more. If you're a fan of the Royal Family, visit historic places such as Buckingham Palace or the Tower of London. On the food front, London has a plethora of restaurants & cultures to make any mouth water and there are always pubs for snacks or a knees up. The curry shops of Brick Lane are close to hand
